The President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Bahaa Ibraheem Ansaf, chaired the third session of the College of Excellence Council, attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Ali Hussein Ali, the Dean’s Assistant, and the heads of academic departments.

During the session, the University President commended the inclusion of Sociology in the academic curriculum, highlighting its role in enhancing social understanding and developing communication and teamwork skills. He emphasized the importance of activating the practical and research dimensions through the organization of specialized workshops and the support of student activities that foster creativity and a sense of belonging. He also stressed the establishment of student clubs, such as a Programming Club and a French Language Club, to cultivate students’ skills and broaden their academic and cultural knowledge.

The Council discussed several key topics aimed at advancing the college and improving the quality of its educational outcomes, as well as strengthening its academic infrastructure. Discussions also addressed mechanisms for developing teaching methodologies across the five academic departments to ensure alignment with global standards in delivering scientific content, with a strong emphasis on adopting English as the language of instruction for all courses.

This initiative contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goals 4 and 17, which advocate for quality education and promote partnerships for the realization of these goals.
